OpenStudio 3.0.1 Installation Question

I am trying to install the latest version of OpenStudio 3.0.1.

Steps: 1. I downloaded the windows(x64) version on website http://www.openstudio.net/downloads . 2. Double click the downloaded .exe file 3. Follow the instructions then finish the installation

However, there is on OpenStudio icon showing up in my quick start menu. I opened the C:\openstudio-3.0.1\bin file, but there is only openstudio.exe laying there (which I tried to click, but it seems nothing happened but a cmd window showing up and then closed automatically). I remember that there should be a openstudioapp.exe file there when I install previous versions long before. But right now, I've no idea how can I launch the "installed" OpenStudio. Do I still need to install Energy+ before OpenStudio?

BTW, I installed the 2.7.0 version in the same way, it worked.

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

As of April 2020, installers for the OpenStudio Application (OS App) are being provided by the OpenStudio Coalition. Installers for the OS App can be found here

The OpenStudio Command Line Interface (CLI) which is often referred to the 'Core', and the OpenStudio Parametric Analysis Tool (PAT) now distributed separately from the OS Application.

Installers for the the OS CLI can be found here.

Installers for PAT can be found here.

Appreciate your help. But here is the problem, I downloaded the OS CLI from your link as well, it's the same as what I've downloaded previously. I installed it, but still, don't know how to launch the software. I installed the previous versions from 2.7.0 to 2.9.1, all function well. But the 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 version seem to work differently.

Perhaps you have a path/environment variable issue? Or perhaps you are confusing the OpenStudio Command Line Interface with the OpenStudio Application (a graphical user interface) ?

Either way, I am using both (v3.0.1) successfully, on a Windows 64 bit machine.

For testing the CLI, when I maneuver to the directory where the OS CLI is installed, and type openstudio openstudio_version, I am returned with 3.01+90b7c8a554.

For launching the OS Application, execute the file "OpenStudioApp.exe".

ChrisBalbach, you seem very knowledgeable, I was just wondering if it was possible to take a domestic building, simulate it with required inputs and then optimise the building to produce a more energy efficient and lower carbon producing building?

@jgowerj this is really a different question altogether and should be a separate post. It looks like you've already made a post for this question here, so I would recommend having further discussion there and not in the comments of this post.
