Are there any real-world data sets available that provide electric consumption data broken out by End Use or Submeter for commercial buildings?
Clarification: - 15 minute interval data (hourly would also work) - Ideally, all major commercial building types: - Office - Retail - Restaurant - Supermarket - School - Hotel - Hospital
Comprehensive end-use interval data doesn't exist for a large sample of commercial buildings. There are a few office buildings that have this data, and individual enduse data exists for some building types (lighting, plug load in offices, refrigeration in supermarkets, etc.).
Depending on your use case, you could use EPRI's end use load shapes, or use prototype building models to generate end use load profiles. The ongoing End Use Load Profiles project is a effort to generate this sort of data at a national scale.
That is what I feared :( I thought I'd ask in case there was some set of data that everyone uses that I don't know about.
I'm testing a disaggregation model and was hoping there was existing data I could benchmark it on so as to avoid the cost of going out and compiling the data.
It really seems like the industry could use such an open data set. I imagine many companies have one privately - it sure would be nice if they opened it up!

Can you clarify what building types, locations, and resolution of data you need?
I've edited the original question, but ideally this would be 15 minute interval data and would cover most major building types: Office, Retail, Restaurant, Hotel, etc. I know that's a lot to ask for! I'll really take anything thats available as long as its interval data.
