Monthly Building Sensible Heat Gain Components

Hi everyone,

E+ reports give "Annual Building Sensible Heat Gain Components" for the Entire Facility under the Sensible Heat Gain Summary, which seems to be default when the "Output:Table:Summary Reports" object figure in the object list. Among other, the default variables for the entire facility are:

  • HVAC Zone Eq & Other Sensible Air Heating [kBtu]
  • HVAC Zone Eq & Other Sensible Air Cooling [ton-hrs]
  • People Sensible Heat Addition [kBtu]
  • Lights Sensible Heat Addition [kBtu]
  • Equipment Sensible Heat Addition [kBtu]
  • Window Heat Addition [kBtu]
  • Infiltration Heat Addition [kBtu]
  • Opaque Surface Conduction and Other Heat Addition [kBtu]
  • Window Heat Removal [kBtu]
  • Infiltration Heat Removal [kBtu]
  • Opaque Surface Conduction and Other Heat Removal [kBtu]

I am looking for a Monthly one. Does anyone know to get such report? Many thanks all

Hi Amir,

Thanks for picking this up! Will do next time. Hopefully will get some answer back from the question above as it requires quite a bit of post production to report manually all the zones as variables and then to sum the values up in Excel filtering through all the zones.

There are various Predefined Monthly Reports that EnergyPlus can generate. It sounds like you are interested in multiple reports:

EnergyPlus will generate these monthly reports if their name (SpaceGainsMonthly, e.g.) is included in the input field lines of the Output:Table:SummaryReports object in your IDF.

@Yi OpenStudio will always generate the Output:Table:SummaryReports with many summary reports included. To review these summary reports, go to the Results Summary tab in OpenStudio (bottom tab icon on left edge), then select EnergyPlus Results in the Reports drop-down. If you want to modify the content or format of these reports, use an EnergyPlus Measure like Set Output Table to IP Units.
