windows in Sketchup disappear

I modelled the first floor, with the windows. Then I copy-paste the entire floor to generate the other floors; now every floor has the windows. Then I close and re-open sketch-up, and I open the openstudio model in skethup. I can see the external walls of the whole building, I can see the windows of the first floor, but can't see the windows of the other floors. Why do they disappear if I close and re-open sketchup?

I would expect one of two scenarios.

1) The windows are overlapping on the first floor.

2) The windows were not copied into an OpenStudio Space. For walls and windows to save in the OpenStudio file they must be within a space. I would double check that the windows and walls are each in a space. Either add your surfaces and windows to spaces or double click into the space (black "+" sign) to check if windows appear/disappear.

I have seen walls and windows disappear after closing and reopening a file because of the above reasons or an error that causes the program to delete them automatically because they're not valid. Try managing your spaces and see if you can correct this problem.

Did you project loose geometry onto the OpenStudio surfaces before saving, after you had drawn the windows? This usually happens if you do not do that.

The icon for this command in the SketchUp toolbar looks like this: image description You can also access it through Extensions >> OpenStudio>> Modify Model >> Project Loose Geometry.
