Heating and cooling loads for the southern hemisphere

Dear All,

I've simulated a building in EnergyPlus for the weather of Nairobi (Kenya) which is located in the southern hemisphere. Would you please tell me if north and south swap for the purposes of heating and cooling loads in EnergyPlus? Do the results for heating and cooling energies represent them correctly or I must switch them afterwards?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't know the answer, but would be surprised if EP didn't correct for this situation. You could test this by simply choosing a northern hemisphere location that is approximately equidistant from the equator and compare the annual profiles.

Thanks a lot! in fact I checked myself and was almost sure it's correct, but an expert asked me about that and I wanted to make sure, i double checked with the way you proposed! thanks again!

There's absolutely no reason you would need to switch them afterwards. The heating and cooling loads are defined by how your building is defined in energyplus (envelope, gains, etc) and the weather file you used. If you used the correct weather file in conjunction with the correct Site:Location object you're good to go.
