Rhino to SketchUp for OpenStudio

Rhino has the ability to export AutoCAD file types [.dwg/.dxf] and 3DS Max files [.3ds], both of which can be imported into SketchUp (pro version is needed for dwg/dxf). I have also heard there is a Rhino to SketchUp plugin available, although I haven't worked with anyone who has used it before.

  • Is there a preferred/optimal format or workflow for Rhino to SketchUp?
  • What success or failure have you experienced trying to export Rhino to SketchUp to use OpenStudio?
  • Are there certain export settings (NURBS to mesh, other?) that are critical to success?

As with most 3D Model->BEM or BIM->BEM transfers, some level of clean up or re-work is a given.
