Space autocontained in a bigger space

When there is a space inside another openstudio doesn't work properly. image description

It will not recognize interior partitions between the two spaces (after surface matching). It will take them as exterior walls. The only solution I have so far is to split the bigger space in two.

I am wondering if there is a better way to do it.

The problem is that you cannot have a surface with a hole in it (as your roof and floor do). If you simply make a connection from the hole to the outside of the surface, it will make a single surface with one shared edge:

This should apply the correct boundary conditions after matching. For example:

Thanks Neal.

did you draw the line after creating the spaces from the 2D diagram?

I drew a line as you mentioned then I did the surface mach. The problem is i have two roofs one from the small space and one from the big one. Both of them are the small roof area.

Do you correct thr boundary condition using the inspector?

I did not create the spaces from the 2D diagram (that may be part of the problem). I drew the outer space first as a rectangle, created the hole, and then drew the line. I then created a new space object and drew the inner space. I didn't have to correct any boundary conditions after matching surfaces.

I see. it doesn't work if you use the 2D diagram. it's a shame because it is easier to work like that.
