Why ZoneHVAC:Baseboard:RadiantConvective:Water has an air loop?

Hello all,

I want to simulate a simple single zone room with a single radiator unit with District Heating supplying the hot water to it. I want to use ZoneHVAC:Baseboard:RadiantConvective:Water. However, in the documentation I read that in addition to the hot water loop, there is an air loop with an air inlet and outlet node. I can not imagine it physically, how a radiator unit has an air loop. Has anyone simulated similar system before?

The baseboard object output (not input) variables do include air inlet and outlet temperatures in degC. I suspect the inlet is simply the zone air temperature, the outlet: air temperature coming out of the baseboard. But I see no mention of an optional/required air loop. Am I misunderstanding your question? ... an answer (as suggested by Julien), originally posted as a comment.

Or perhaps the baseboard's input field for inlet node name was confused for an air inlet node when it's actually for a water inlet node?

Or something was misleading from the Engineering Reference?

@nagpalh can you share a link to the EnergyPlus web docs where you read an air loop is needed for the baseboard?

@Denis Bourgeois @aaron Yes, the object does not need an air loop to be defined. However, I was confused because of the output variables which report Baseboard Air Inlet Temperature, Baseboard Air OutletTemperature and also Baseboard Air Mass Flow Rate. I couldn't understand where does these variables come from?
