Refrigeration Equipment

Hello everyone,

I am trying to understand how E+ models refrigeration equipments. Normally, a refrigeration system contains four main parts: a compressor, a condenser, an evaporator, and an expansion valve.

I noticed that the chapter on refrigeration equipment states how E+ models the condenser and compressor but not the evaporator or expansion valve, and I don't understand why the latter two are excluded.

Can someone explain to me how E+ models a refrigeration system? Because the idea I have is definitely wrong.

Also, in the refrigerated warehouse example, the refrigeration system was modeled using an air chiller, and the compressor and condenser objects were defined but not the evaporator.

These four parts are essential in any vapor compression system so not just refrigeration but also HVAC systems. Having said that, the expansion valve is not modelled in E+ for any system because it is not important from an energy consumption perspective. As far as the evaporator is concerned, in refrigeration air chillers are evaporators. More specifically, air chillers are used in refrigerated warehouses and for commercial refrigeration (e.g. supermarkets) the evaporators are the Refrigeration:Walkin and the Refrgeration:Case
