can't open OpenstudioApplication on my new pc windows11

Hello,

I am a recent user of OpenstudioApplication 1.3.1 on my Windows10 pc and it works perfectly. But i have a new pc with windows 11, it can't open openstudio anymore. (find attached the error message).

An unhandled exception has occured : D:\OSN\utilities\bcl\LocalBCL.cpp@74 : Unable to update Local Database

Is there anybody with the same problem that can help me? Thanks in advance.

I also have the same issue. Although I complete the donwload and install the latest version 3.4.0 on windows 11 computer, nothing appears. Maybe, OpenStudio does not work on windows11 ?

@it I know it's confusing but OpenStudio SDK (3.4.0) is the SDK/CLI (https://github.com/NREL/OpenStudio). There is no graphical user interface there, that is OpenStudioApplication (https://github.com/openstudiocoalitio...).

Hi there, since I am considering upgrading to windows 11, it would be nice if this issue was solved. And if you were actually using a virtual machine or not. It would be quite an issue to me if Openstudio did not work. Also I would not be able to perform a fresh installation... Does anyone have any news on this? I am using a laptop with Ryzen 7 4000 series.

Any news would be very appreciated :) Thank you very much!

@bingo Have you tried deleting your %USERPROFILE%/BCL folder? (eg: C:\Users\bingo\BCL)

If that doesn't work, please try https://github.com/openstudiocoalitio... and open an issue on https://github.com/openstudiocoalitio... directly.

For what it's worth, I did try the OpenStudio 1.4.0 (newly released 12 days ago) on a Windows 11 clean virtual machine and can say that it works: https://github.com/openstudiocoalitio...

Please do note that I'm talking about Windows 11 with an x64/amd64 architecture (the vast majority of cases). If you try to use an arm64 (such as running a windows 11 virtual machine on an M1 mac), it won't work.
