Hello everyone, I am trying to model an air conditioning split unit in DesignBuilder. How can I do that? Is there a built-in template? If not what is the alternative?

There are two "split unit" templates in DesignBuilder Simple HVAC. If you open the list of HVAC templates you will see them listed alphabetically. If you don't see them I'd suggest you install the latest version. If you are using Detailed HVAC, there are similar alternatives depending on the level of detail you need. Most spilt units operate with variable flow so the VRF template might be the best starting point and just delete the DOAS unit if not relevant.

When using detailed HVAC, I use the PTHP object to model split systems. The DX cooling coil is still air cooled, so if you are wanting to model a 1:1 split system, I think the PTHP is essentially the same thing.

You might raise a ticket to the DesignBuilder Support desk if such HVAC object is available. I tried it a few months ago, but there was no exact built-in template. You might check once PTAC if that satisfies your conditioning need.
