Ground Plane extension size for daylighting analysis

Hello, I'm using DesignBuilder-Radiance for daylighting. I wanted to know how we can calculate the ground plane size when we want to perform a daylighting analysis. Is there a rule of thumb for that? Thank you

I don't know that there's a good rule of thumb, but in general your ground plane should be large enough to capture any significant shadow cast by your building and adjacent structures. So, if your ground plane extends 4 times the height of your tallest structure beyond the bounds of your building, you are probably OK.
