Heating coil behavior

Hi,

I have an E+ model with a single speed DX heating coil. Another E+ file has a multispeed DX heating coil. The multispeed DX heating coil has a smooth behavior while the single speed heating coil has a significant jump at each cycle. Please see attached for a better illustration of this using https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oo_p...

Could someone help me understand these jumps and the way to control the extent of jumps.

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration,

Best, Mohammad

what do you mean by "jump"? If the single speed heating coil is cycling on and off, that is probably to be expected, since it is the component of a single stage system. What is happening is that there is a heating load on the conditioned zone, the hvac is told to come on, and the single speed dx coil activates; then, to prevent overheating, the coil deactivates at the next timestep. However, the heating load still persists, so the temperature falls, and the coil has to come on again to maintain the setpoint. That cycle repeats.

I apologize and I have updated the link.

Look here:

For the various inputs for a coil heating dx single speed object. You may find an input that you can modify to prevent the spikes, though with a single stage system, it is possible the spikes are a natural result of the model.
