IT Equipment: server Modeling

Hi,

I am currently trying to build an air-cooled ITE in E+. I read some introductions about this part in the Engineer Reference. It seems that the server power consumption (P_total) is related to the designed power (P_d), scheduled load ratio (r), and the inlet temperature (T_in). The formula is: P_total = P_d * f(r,T_in), f(.) is a curve. But I don't know why does E+ choosing this modeling formula? Did it refer to any other publications?
