Euclid Building Model Prototype

I modeled my building using Sketchup with the Euclid extension. I was not able to locate where to apply the DOE prototype model to my 3D model.

For example, I am trying to add the "Mid-rise apartment" prototype, so that when I convert it to an idf, the construction materials, plug loads, and water loads would already by populated. I would then go in and change the data that I want to when I import that idf in openstudio.

Let me know if I can post any snips or documentation that would help.

The Euclid extension is currently a geometry editor only. OpenStudio allows importing IDF, but only geometry is imported (even if the IDF contains more than just geometry). Any modifications other than geometry would need to be made within OpenStudio (or whatever your modeling tool of choice). OpenStudio has "Measures" that can be used to generate the DOE prototype models, including geometry, HVAC systems, constructions etc. After generating the prototype model, you can make adjustments to the model in OpenStudio before converting/exporting to IDF.

If you prefer working on the IDF directly, I would recommend using software other than OpenStudio, such as Modelkit, Eppy, or DesignBuilder. The Commercial Prototype Building models can be downloaded from energycodes.gov/development/commercial/prototype_models.
