Locating my IDF file while using "Annual building energy simulation" in Revit.

Hi all,

I did an architectural design using Revit 2020, then I created my energy model and I did a system analysis (Annual building energy simulation). I got a report similar to one by Energyplus . where can I found my IDF file who is used by Revit/E+ to create the report?

NB: I'm trying to find a method to create IDF file from Revit without using GBS and then export IDF file. Thank you.

Hi guys, I don't know if anyone has a better solution, but so far I've found this workflow to work, with some added steps.

Once you've done all your energy inputs, use Revit>Analyse>Generate. You should get an email from Autodesk when the model's been analysed in Insight 360. From there (Insight), you can Export>Energy Plus and this should download the IDF file related to your model.

From my experience, ticking the Detailed Elements box in Advanced Energy Settings create a better IDF file but the Insight analysis might sometimes run into errors.

Hi, You can use Revit system analysis to run whole building simulation using embeed open studio program in Revit. Once you run the simulation inside Revit, a temporary folder is created in following path with files for Eplus simulation (Including IDF file)

C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/Temp/
