changing DOE reference building for a custom climate

DOE reference buildings are designed for different climates of the USA. Researchers use these building to facilitate comparing and validating the results of their study and also reduce the time for modelling whole building. I want to use these reference building (using OpenStudio measure) and alter some of its input parameters to use it to conduct an energy efficiency study on some other climates.

As I'm not a professional HVAC engineer I need some professional advice to conduct these changes in a proper way. Any reference or suggestion would help me a lot.

After you have made the prototype model you can change both the weather file and the design day files prior to running your analysis. You should only replace it for different locations in the same climate zone used to create the model, otherwise constructions and other characteristics may not be what would be expected.

The Site Tab of the OpenStudio Application is documented here.. Make sure to delete the design days from the original prototype location before importing design days from your target location.
