Hi Chris, I am no longer with NREL so I don't know the most up to date plans. The plan a few months ago was to make the SketchUp plug-in normal SketchUp extension that you can install through the extension warehouse. There is an rbz file installer that you can download and install through SketchUp's normal extension dialog. On launch, the new extension should prompt you for the location of the OpenStudio SDK (e.g. where you installed OpenStudio 3.0). However, I have not tried this with the 3.0 prerelease because I no longer have access to a SketchUp 2019 license. If I am able to get a license to SketchUp 2019 I can try this out and make sure it works.

Updated Answer - 11/30/19 - Possible Solution

I have uploaded a Windows only patch compatible with the OpenStudio Application 1.0.0-pre1 release to this dropbox link. To use this with SketchUp 2019 on Windows:

  1. Install OpenStudio Application 1.0.0-pre1 (include all components) to the default location (C:\openstudioapplication-1.0.0-pre1).
  2. Download the zip patch file and move the contents (openstudio_modeleditor.so and openstudio_modeleditor.rb) to the Ruby directory inside your OpenStudio installation.
  3. Download the OpenStudio SketchUp Plug-in RBZ.
  4. Start SketchUp 2019 and open the Window->Extension Manager dialog and install the OpenStudio SketchUp Plug-in RBZ file. When prompted for the location of the OpenStudio installation enter the root directory for your OpenStudio Application installation (C:\openstudioapplication-1.0.0-pre1).

Let me know if that works for you!

Hi Dan, do you enter an absolute location of SDK or relative to the Sketchup app?

Thanks, Eugene

I am getting the following error: "Error loading OpenStudio SketchUp Plug-In: cannot load such file -- /Applications/OpenStudio-3.0.0-pre1/Ruby/openstudio_modeleditor.rb"

I forgot that the SketchUp plug-in needs some of the GUI elements that are built with the OpenStudio Application (notably the ModelEditor dialog). The right answer should be to point the new plug-in to the OpenStudio Application installer's Ruby folder. However, it looks like the openstudio_modeleditor.rb is not being installed with the OpenStudio Application installer.
