Hello good people, I am hoping you can provide advise. I believe I can figure out how to add exterior lighting but do not know how to set a schedule that would follow typical dusk to dawn. Thank you in advance. Regards, Matt
If you see the Control option to "AstronomicalClock" it will operate based on the sun position. See documentation here..

Exterior lights are in the API, but not GUI, so only accessible via a measure (which would include apply measures now). We do have a basic measure to add exterior lights. It does offer an option to remove any existing exterior lights. The AEDG measures have inputs for parking, walkway, and lit facade area, vs. just a power value in the basic measure. The AEDG measures also lower the lighting later at night.

This is a generic answer to your question, not OpenStudio specific. The National Research Council of Canada has a website that lists the sunrise/sunset times for every day of the year for many cities.

The text version provides Nautical and Civil Twilight Start, Nautical and Civil Twilight End. I use Civil Start/End as the turn on/turn off times. I construct an hourly schedule, one for each month of the year using the average for each month and apply that schedule to the calculated exterior lighting kW.
