Is my computer too dinky for BEopt?

I have an Inspiron 3180 2109 with 4 gigabits installed Ram and a processor described as AMD E2-9000e RADEON R2, 4 COMPUTE CORES 2C+2G, 1500 Mhz, 2 cores. (I normally use Mac and have a cheap PC for non-apple uses.)

Trying to use newly-installed BEopt and it is waaaaayyyy slow. I checked the site and only saw "windows" as the listed system requirement. Do I need a different computer or more Ram or....? Dying to get into this software, so any help would be much appreciated.

Potato comment was super helpful for me ;-) and I've now replaced the computer. Thanks!

Your processor is a just a little bit better than a potato and is below the minimum system requirements needed to run OpenStudio/EnergyPlus, which is part of the backend of BEopt.

Here are two related questions on recommended system specifications:

What is the best hardware setup to minimize run time?

What amount of system resources are required to run OpenStudio?.

Your first priority should be to get a faster CPU, then a solid state drive, then more RAM if you are running multiple simulations in parallel. That probably means a new computer. For a cheap system that can run OS, check out logicalincrements or the refurbished section of an online store like Newegg.

Thanks so much for the straight advice, I laughed out loud at the potato. I'll be shopping for something used on Newegg.

Is the first link a real OpenStudio (NREL) website? I see stuff about teacher payments.

@luis-lara it's not an NREL website - I just did a google search for OpenStudio system requirements. Apparently its for a different software also called OpenStudio so I removed the link.
