Can't open IDF editor

Hi,

I installed EnergyPlus 9-1 and uninstalled all previous versions. I can open EP-Launch. But I can't open the IDF editor. The taskbar shows IDF editor is running, but it doesn't show on the screen. I tried restarting my computer but it didn't change.

Anyone had this issue before? Thanks.

Is this the first version of energyplus on your computer?

Hi there! I installed E+ 4.0 and 8.0 before, but have uninstalled them. 9.0 is the only version on my computer now.

You might want to try installing an older version of EnergyPlus and keep it installed. Sometimes the installer doesn't register all of the libraries (DLL's and OCX's) that IDF Editor needs.

Thank you! The issue has been resolved. I right clicked the IDF editor in the taskbar, and selected Move, then using the arrows on the keyboard, I was able to move the IDF editor back to the screen.

Thanks Glacieria, same thing happened to me. Maximizing the window from the taskbar also seems to do the trick. I was starting to freak out since I have no idea how the issue appeared in the first place.

In case this pops up for anyone else (it happens to me all the time for many of the E+ utilities) you can can shift-right click in the task bar and then click move, and some combination of mouse dragging or arrow keys (it seems to be different each time) will bring it into view. I'm not sure what's happening exactly, but it's like the window stays on a monitor that doesn't exist, especially after I chance docking stations or something, and the usual windows key - arrows doesn't actually move it into the real monitors.

When it happens to me, I hover the program icon, then hover the small program window then right click and click "maximize".
