Quick Tips to create geometry in Open Studio

Hello everyone,

I am working on a 25 storey building and looking to model it using the Open Studi Sketchup Plugin. I Used 'create spaces from Diagrams' to create the 3D Model, but I have to assign two different types of glazing on each facade. How can I do that without using WWR script? Can I use floor multipliers? I want to avoid the monotonous work. Any suggestions on how I can do that?

Or If I use an exsisting model (for eg. DOE prototype building), how to modify the number of floors?

If the windows are in a repetitive pattern, you can draw wireframes in your model and copy+paste them in Sketchup, then use 'Project Loose Geometry' to make them into windows on your facade. It helps to make the wireframes away from the zones to make the copy-selection easier, then drag them to overlay the facade when you are ready to project the geometry.

If you have a 25 storey building, you can use Zone Multipliers to save having to repeat geometry.

@mdahlhausen Thanks for the reply.I did go through the link on Zone multipliers. I created a sample model with 3 floors. Used surface matching but couldn't find the adiabatic script. Then I should create zones for all the 3 floors and assign multipliers to middle floors?

@mdahlhausen Should I create the HVAC system too, before I assign the multiplier?

Yes, you create zones for all floors and apply multipliers to the middle floor. You can add zone multipliers before or after you add the HVAC.
