Chiller performance output variables

I would like to know an output variable to analyze the behavior of a chiller along the project day and also the thermal load which this chiller is responsible to attend (basically I want the thermal load of the building).

I know that EnergyPlus provides the nominal capacity of the chiller. The problem is that, they probably are doing some considerations before print this value in the results. This is why I am asking for an output variable which allow me understand how my chiller is really working during a piriod of time.

@hugopft I edited your question to have a more succinct title. Feel free to adjust it, but a long title doesn't always get people's attention.

Thanks Neal Kruis.

Take a look at the section of the Input Output Reference that discusses chiller output. I think you are looking for Chiller Evaporator Cooling Rate and Plant Supply Side Cooling Demand Rate. These will tell you how much cooling is performed by the chiller and the actual demand load on the chilled water loop throughout the simulation.

@Neal Kruis I also would like to see these chiller outputs along with chiller run-time hours throughout the simulation. How do you use these "object" name inputs to see the outputs? Can you view these outputs in the results viewer of openstudio? As much detail as you can provide will be helpful as I'm new to energyplus & openstudio. Thanks.

@Brian C You will have to create an OpenStudio measure to output these variables. Take a look at this site for an explanation of how to add an output variable using the reporting measure.

@Neal Kruis Thanks, it worked as advertised. Can you see runtime for equipment? I do not see that object variable on bigladder's website

@Brian C what do you mean by runtime? Do you want to total all of the timesteps when the chiller is running? You can look at the Part Load Ratio and count the timesteps when the value is not zero, but there is no dedicated output for runtime of a chiller.

@Neal Kruis Yes, as you described. Thanks for the idea on that and help again.
