Thermal energy storage in Openstudio

Has anyone implemented TES with HVAC for the building and system model in EP or openstudio. I am trying to get a commercial building modeled with TES and would like some assistance on how can that be achieved. Any thought on how to take care of the control strategy instead of thermal mass where charge and discharge can be scheduled. And how can EP help in sizing that with given variables like hours of operation charge and discharge.

The simplest way to do this is probably using water heaters /water tanks. In OpenStudio, you can set up the plant loops in the usual way, and the setpoint manager(s) will provide for an easy control of loop(s). In OpenStudio, you can also use options for auto-sizing instead of hard-sizing for water heaters, pumps, etc.

According to the IDD the WaterHeater:Mixed object can't have a negative capacity so this workaround would only work for a heat storage scenario not ice storage.

There are two Ice Storage examples in the EnergyPlus examples file folder, which might help you.
