Why is this IDF geometry generated from Sketchup plugin?

A GeomEppy user has tried to visualise an IDF created using the Sketchup OpenStudio plug-in and the output looks nothing like the geometry seen in Sketchup (github issue). What is the reason for this mismatch? Is the plugin simplifying the geometry somehow, or is this more likely a bug in GeomEppy?
