Why is my OpenStudio file importing at the wrong scale into SketchUp?

When opening a saved SketchUp file and then importing my .osm saved file, my Open Studio model imports at the wrong scale. For example, my building height was drawn at 8' but the model imports at 8". Am I opening the file wrong?

When I open my SketchUp file, I get this notice:

Removing previously linked OpenStudio content.

Open OpenStudio model at 'Desktop/box1.osm' to restore content.

Look at this thread about file management with the SketchUp plugin. My guess is you have geometry in a SketchUp file that is out of sync with the saved OSM. Dont' open the .skp file. Just launch SketchUp and then open the .osm file.

Thanks for your comment. That makes sense, but how would I go back and edit the .osm file in Sketchup if it's not complete? When I just launch Sketchup without creating a new .skp file the OpenStudio tabs are greyed out.

As David said, it sounds like you are trying to use the .skp file, which is unnecessary for anything related to OpenStudio. The only file you should be working with is the .osm file, and you should be using the OpenStudio Open and OpenStudio Save, rather than the sketchup version of open and save.

Thanks for your reply. So is there no way to go back and edit an .osm file's walls? I need to go back and edit our progress without redrawing the model every time.

You should be able to edit the OSM anytime by opening it with the "Open OpenStudio Model" button on the OpenStudio toolbar. Generally you need need to save the SketchUp file. If you have CAD plans or models you want to use as a guide, you can open them to use as a guide, but you don't need to save any changes to them.
