Input files of ASHRAE 140-2017 (BESTEST)

I am trying to validate my models with the ASHRAE Standard and, to get an understanding of the results reported in the standard, it would be useful to inspect the simulation input files. The files are available to download from here however it seems that the files for EnergyPlus and DOE-2 are corrupt and do not work, for example, the Informative Sec4-5 Files.

What is the purpose of these files if they can't be used to simulate the cases they were prepared for? Also there are some files that bear no reference to the cases of the standard, see the Energy Plus folder of Sec4-5. What do Case1a - 1g refer to when then cases in the Standard are Case 100 - 230.

Any advice on demystifying this standard would be appreciated.

I can't speak for DOE-2, but I suspect that the EnergyPlus files are not corrupt but rather targeted at older versions of EnergyPlus. As for the documentation, you will have to contact ASHRAE for that.

There is a public repository for our BESTEST model generation and reporting workflow for EnergyPlus and OpenStudio at https://github.com/NREL/BESTEST-GSR. It contains tests for sections 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4 of ASHRAE Standard 140 (excluding 5.2.4 ground coupling).

The zip files from the EnergyPlus 8.9 and OpenStudio 2.5.0 runs are on the repository. This includes the input OSM and IDF files and simulation results.

Lastly the Excel Files summarizing the results are also on the repository.
