Radiant floor slab

Project I am working on is an existing building with a level in which the perimeter zone extends out from the level below. The concrete slab has electric heat tracing cable embedded in this perimeter area to avoid thermal loss through the slab during the winter period. I know I can assign a temperature profile to the specific area to inspect how the space would react to the temperature conditions but is there an way to model the energy use of the heating cable in the systems dialog or am I going to need to do this calculation manually by hand? Or if anyone knows of another software that is capable of producing the results.

Appendix G of the ApHVAC user guide covers two methods for modeling hydronic radiant heating and cooling systems that you could adapt to ER. One method uses radiant panels. The other is a bit more complicated, but is probably the most appropriate for the effects you are trying to capture. It requires creating a slab zone to embed the heating source in.

If it is just electric radiant panel, can I just add a electric coil to the zone for this loop? Thank you

I would just add a direct acting heater as a room unit.

Using OpenStudio you could leverage a prototype and then create a custom radiant construction.

You'll have to add internal source constructions to a construction type and work from there.
