UnmetHours.com content citation

I've asked a number of questions at this site (UnmetHours.com) and received helpful replies.

I'm wondering how I could reflect/cite such discussions in my academic research papers.

On the one hand, I guess some people here (with notable "karma") are among main developers of EnergyPlus and OpenStudio (?), and I guess they observe all discussions here (?). On the other hand, I haven't found answer to some of my questions elsewhere (e.g. scientific books/articles).

So basically in such cases, I can only refer to what I've read/received here as reference.

To what extents are the discussions here observed by main developers of E+ and OS?

Thank you

The developers of EnergyPlus and OpenStudio do pay attention to this site. Moreoever, they presumably subscribe to the 'energyplus' and 'openstudio' tags respectively and see questions with those tags in their inboxes (this is what it's important to tag your question with which software you are using).

As far as citing UnmetHours discussions. People cite Wikipedia all the time. It may be frowned upon in some venues, but people do it. I've also seen citations to Stack Exchange and in fact there is a discussion of this practice on Stack Exchange Meta here. One thing that makes this practice more robust in Stack Exchange is that you can explicitly reference revisions, which effectively lets you take a snapshot of a discussion. I don't know if you can do this in UnmetHours, maybe @Admin can chime in on this.

@__AmirRoth__: you can click on "answered May 26 '18" next to your answer and get to this page: https://unmethours.com/answers/31726/...

Here's for an answer (or question) with multiple revisions: https://unmethours.com/answers/31755/...

I haven't really found a way to link to an actual revision as a view-only (only edit.)
