Stratified tank supplied by collector Loop and used for Zone Heating

Hey guys I am new to energyplus and need some help setting up my case. I want to simulate a stratified water heater which is supplied by a sollar collector loop. I want to use the water heater (storage tank) for heating purposes and am looking for about 60°C on the use side outlet.

I tried setting up a case on my own but it seems like the collectors aren't really heating up the water. The temperatures in the stratified water heater decrease throughout the year and are too low.

So my questions are: - Are there any good examples or tutorials for this kind of case? - Do you have any tips for setting up such a case?

My case is running and simulating without any severe errors but the results are unusable. Any help and tip is appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

A good start point would be 'SolarCollectorFlatPlateWater.idf' example file which you can find under the exampleFiles directory in your E+ installation directory.

Generally speaking you might want to use the 'ExampleFiles-ObjectsLink.html' to find examples with Objects of interest. Also you can use the ExampleFiles.html to find what is inside the example files. Both html files are also located under the above mentioned directory.

Edited answer after looking at the model:

I believe that since the collectors loop does not have Availability Manger as you can find in the above example file, the collectors are actually dissipating the tank heat into the atmosphere as can be seen in the report and the graph below:

I believe that when you will add those Availability Managers it will work fine. Also watch out for the zero flow in Plant loop 1.

First of all thank you for replying. I have already checked those files and set up my case according to the example. I checked the outputs of my simulation and it seems like there is no flow in the system. The temperature of the stratified tank decreases with time which should actually not happen.

@Eko123 if you can post a link to your model I will take a look at it.

Hey Avi. I uploaded my idf file. You can find the IDF-File here.

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks a lot Avi. I will try it out right now. Yeah I noticed the zero flow in Plant Loop 1 as well and am trying to figure how to solve that problem.

I managed to get positive values for solar water thermal. I checked the water heater source side inlet and outlet temperature and both have the same value. Does anyone have an idea where this could come from? The temperatures on the use side seem reasonable
