OpenStudio - Roof Space

Hi all,

I have a single story office building to model, and I have an empty, flat roof space that is not ventilated at all.

I want to investigate how the thickness of this roofspace affects thermal performance of my building. So far I have assigned it a separate thermal zone, and also set it such that it is an unconditioned space.

Is this all I need to do to correctly model what I have?

Cheers in advance,

That, and assigning correct constructions. And even if not ventilated, assign some infiltration too, no envelope is perfect.

Make sure the space type for the space is setup so that there are no lights or plug loads in the un-conditioned space. You can either not have a building default space type, or if you do have a building default space type, then create a mostly empty space type and assign it to this space to override the default.

Also make sure that "Part of Total Floor Area" is not checked for the space. This won't affect energy consumption but will affect calculated EUI.

Hum, your comment ends up being more complete than my answer :)
