OpenStudio now uses DView directly for data visualization instead of ResultsViewer. However, while trying to open data dview takes several minutes (sometimes 15 or more) just to open a small output file. Are there any fixes I can do to that will make this process faster?
In the meantime, I will likely need to use another results viewer because this is too slow.
I see slowdowns when I have lots of output variables, and ask DView to convert them to IP (presumably because of all the converting being done), but never up to 15+ minutes.
What operating system are you using? Does the time to open depend on which output variables you report?
You might want to log an issue here, including operating system used, OpenStudio version, etc.
Otherwise, you can get ResultsViewer from previous OS installations (described here).
Hi Eric, I am on Windows 10. I am trying to open the sql file that is about 45mb and not converted to IP. Thank you for those links. I have installed a legacy version of Results Viewer with much better success. I will consider logging an issue on GitHub if I can isolate the problem. Right now it seems like an SQL file opening is very slow.
I'm also on Windows 10 and am having this issue. My sql file is about 46MB and not converted to IP. But even if I don't tell it to convert to IP when launching DView, it still takes a long time to open. I'm going to log an issue on GitHub.

i'm working on an open-source tool that is installable for mac and PC, which aims to solve exactly this issue. It currently only supports SQLite outputs, but it loads available hourly and sub-hourly reports nearly instantaneously--even for very large simulations--and only pulls queried reports into system memory as required. it features unit conversion, multiple simulations at once, heatmaps, line charts, histograms, scatter plots, statistical summaries, and CSV / clipboard export.

I use Dview to import CSV output files generated by e+, not open studio , and it works fine.
I've also found Dview to be painfully slow when loading files, sometimes I can barely even get it to open on its own.
I've found that if I close most programs that I'm running that helps quite a bit. Also rebooting my computer seems to help (maybe just by ensuring not a lot of junk is running in the background).
I just uploaded a video of one way to get to the DVIEW data by running the application directly from windows. Mine does not open within openStudio.
