Slab Preprocessors in Energyplus

I am quite confused about the "evapotranspiration model" and "ZCLREANCE: Distance from bottom of slab to domainslab bottom edge of the area that will be modeled with the grid system" in the slab preprocessor. I found that those two variables has a large effect on the ground surface temperature.

so I just wondering that:

  1. when should we use evapotranspiration model (or when should not use it)?
  2. How to calculate the ZCLEARANCE in stead of using the default value 15m?

@Constance Could you state what version of E+ you use? Also could you elaborate on what is your aim of using the Slab Preprocessors?

Thanks for you reply! It is E+ version 2.13. I am trying to use the slab preprocessors to get the ground temperatures for each month. I need accurate ground temperatures as I will compare the simulated and measured indoor temperature at the end.

@Constance Are you aware that the current E+ version is 8.8? Can you upgrade?

Sorry, My mistake. it's the E+ lastest version 8.8.0.

As you can read in those three posts 1 2 3 the slab preprocessors are included in E+ since version 8.2.0. Those posts are a good reading as they will provide you with great overview of the ground model in E+ and were answered by experts.

Another option would be to use the Kiva ground model. For that you can see that post.
