different layers in the wall [closed]

Hi, I would like to know how can I model an external wall that has different layers and materials. Normally I've seen homogeneous walls.

Our documentation on constructions and materials. Making your own constructions is easy when each material layer is a homogeneous material, but when a specific layer is a composite such as framing and insulation, you need to find or develop 'effective' values for that composite layer.

California Title 24 2016 Building Energy Code Reference Appendices has effective R-values for several different kinds of composite constructions. Particularly with framing, the method of securing insulation, framing, and associated thermal bridging means effective R-values are a lot lower than an area-weighted average.
