Does anyone know of an existing normative reference building for assembly type buildings? The DOE reference buildings don't include this building type but I am wondering if there are any other normative building sets available that may contain this building type.
There is not a "DOE" one at this time. ORNL is creating a courthouse prototype, which may or may not be close enough for your needs. There may be a house of worship prototype coming later as well, ditto. The idea is to have a public assembly (e.g., performance hall) prototype in the not too distant future.
That's one of the DEER building types we're adding to the Standards Gem. California-centric, but hopefully that will be available in the December timeframe.
We are looking for a chapel prototype as well. Where would we look for it? Or the courthouse?

There will be a DEER prototype for Assembly buildings spanning 9 vintages and the 16 CA climate zones. We hope to have it available in the December release. It will be available in the OpenStudio Standards repository earlier, but we don't recommend folks dip into that ahead of the official release unless they are OpenStudio power users.
