How can I Insert an air-to-water heat pump and two pipe fancoils

I am a new user to simulation programs. So how can I insert a supply equipment constituted by a electric air-to-water heat pump, for chilled or heated water, and two pipe fancoils on the demand side?

I insert an empty plant loop on my model and on trying drag the fancoils from the library, but I always get a error message: the selected component is not allowed at this location.

I assume that you are using OpenStudio from the error message you received, but could you mention the tool you are using or use the appropriate tag?

To add the fan coil, go to the Thermal Zones tab, and drag it into a zone. Then in the "Edit" panel at the right, you have two "link" icons (one for Coil:Heating:Water and another for Coil:Cooling:Water), click that to connect it to your plant loop.

I see that you can hook it up this way, but how would you actually control the loop to provide heating and cooling as needed?

You switch to the "HVAC Systems" tab and you add pumps, setpoint managers, etc for the plant loop.

Hi, guys, I want to model the same system as the questioner asked(air to water heat pump with fan coil unit, both for heating and cooling), but I am working with the designbuilder. Any tips to insert these system with the designbuilder?

I should have been more specific. I understand the basics of how to control a plant loop. What I was asking is how would you actually set up your setpoint manager(s) to determine what water temperature to supply and when. For example, how do you determine if the loop should be in heating mode or cooling mode? What if one zone needs heating and another needs cooling? And even if you know if you are in heating or cooling mode, how would you adjust your loop temperature setpoint?
