Building simulation where parameters can be adjusted hourly

I would like to run a building simulation where I can actively tweak parameters of the HVAC and lighting systems (e.g. the thermostat set points) while the simulation is running. For example, I would like to run the simulation for an hour, get access to the current meter readings, then change some parameters, then continue the simulation from where it left off with the new parameters. In looking into Energy Plus, it seems like the shortest simulation I can run is for a full day, and it's not clear to me how to set initial values for meter readings. If I could run an hourly simulation and set some initial values then I think Energy Plus could work.

Is this possible using Energy Plus or eQUEST? If not, is there another simulation system which would support this?

Thank you!

In EnergyPlus, you can adjust thermostat set points with standard schedule objects. If you want to alter parameters of HVAC and lighting systems that are normally set once and held constant, you can use the group of Energy Management System objects in EnergyPlus. These objects can be used to monitor and change parameters at sub-hourly timesteps. You can search for the tag ems on Unmet Hours and you should be able to find lots of questions for specific applications of these objects.
