How to create different floors in sketchup?

The Openstudio tutorials I've watched usually draw a space outline and then use the Spaces From Diagram tool to project the diagram into a multistory building. However, I want to create different floors. What is the best approach for this?

Also, I tried to use the "Hide" function but it doesn't seem to be working. What could be the reason?

Is the floor you are trying to create in a different layout from the other floor?

Yes.I tried to draw on the first floor but as it is on the "roof", It seemed to create troubles when trying to do surface matching. the "roof"=the surface between the two floors, didn't go green.

Feel free to move this as an answer @edgarr, I think it qualifies :)

Try drawing out all the floor plans and then move the second floor up above the 1st floor. Then use the create spaces from diagram on each floor plan. Then you will have to Intersect the whole model under the surface matching tool. I have noticed that the surface matching in side the sketchup plugin does not do a good job sometimes. There is a measure you can use inside of the openstudio app called SurfaceMatching. You can download that with the BCL Website. This one does a better job at matching. Good Luck
