Daylight sensor - .ill file VS ResultsViewer

I am currently using the Radiance measure in OpenStudio to simulate Daylighting.

I try to compare data from .ill with the Illuminance map in ResultsViewer for a specific position of the daylight sensor.

The result in the .ill file (Column of daylight Sensor Illuminance) gives illuminance for a specific hour/day/month.

When I compare .ill data with the Illuminance map in the ResultsViewer for the approximately same position of the daylight sensor and for the same hour, it does not match.

I suppose that the data in the .ill (Column of daylight Sensor Illuminance) are not exactly the measured data from the daylighting sensor position in the OpenStudio model.

Maybe someone know how the illuminance of the daylight sensor in the .ill is calculate?

After few experimentations, I found a part of the answer.

There are my suggestions to get precises data from sensor (Column of daylight Sensor Illuminance) in the .ill file.

1) The orientation of the sensor in the model is very important. Be sure that the sensor is oriented to the window:

2) When you add Radiance Daylighting Measure in OpenStudio, be sur to put the Radiance settings at High:

  • 1) Add the Radiance Daylighting Measure to your model;
  • 2) Then, clic on the measure, in the right column set the Radiance settings at high. image description

I hope it could be helpful,
