Question about measure - Create DOE Prototype Building

I need to use the measure "Create DOE Prototype Building" in category - Whole Building, and I choose template 90.1-2004. If the two buildings belong to the same building type and different climate zone, whether only information related to site and envelope (e.g. construction) is different? I need to do some work to compare energy use in model and measured data, and thus, I am curious about whether HVAC systems and some other part are different in the two building models? Thanks.

If you pick the same building type, the same template, and only change the climate zone, here's what will change:

  • The weather, water mains, and ground temperatures
  • The construction (envelope) properties
  • The autosized capacities of the HVAC equipment, which may lead to
    • Different HVAC equipment efficiency levels
    • Different HVAC system controls

So while the type of HVAC system is the same, some of the details of how it performs and how it is controlled can be different.
