Recently working on an interesting project, I am trying to model a Building Integrated Photovoltaic/Thermal system (BIPV/T) using E+ in order to design the heat pump and also battery tanks.
Have anybody tried to simulate the BIPV/T in Energyplus before?
Yes, people do BIPV in EnergyPlus. I have experience using the Simple PV for non-integrated and some BIPV, but have not used it much yet. This post links to the Simple PV documentation. You can model BIPV with our without an air cavity.

I am not sure about E+ for BIPV/T, however I know that TRNSYS also offers a good range of components to model BIPVT systems. I used Type 567 in TRNSYS using the TESS extension package 'Electrical Library'. The BIPVT model integrates well with a Type 56 building model which you generate using Google Sketchup and TRNSYS-3D for the CAD design of the building structure, and TRNBUILD for specifying construction materials and operation schedules like occupancy, ventilation, infiltration, and HVAC modes. Thank you for your response. I have heard a lot about trnsys capabilities and specifically BIPVT modeling on that. But you know, I am resisting to go throw it since I belive E+ is strong enough and more familiar for me.
